10 November: Expert meeting Coordinated Vulnerability Disclosure

On Thursday, November 10th the GFCE members Romania, Hungary, HP and the Netherlands organize the second expert meeting on Coordinated Vulnerability Disclosure in Bucharest.

The first meeting was held on 23rd March 2016 in Budapest and brought together professionals from a range of countries, private sector, academia and tech community to share lessons learned, good practices and challenges in understanding responsible disclosure or coordinated vulnerability disclosure policies. A tool was provided by way of the Manifesto, establishing a good practice for organizations, a guide which helps them implement their own coordinated vulnerability disclosure policy.

The purpose of the second meeting (10th November in Bucharest) is to continue on the foundation laid in March, respectively:

  • to discuss the challenges in setting up a national framework for responsible disclosure policy;
  • to address the legal barriers in implementing coordinated vulnerability disclosure and capitalize from the experience of law enforcement and prosecutors with various hackers;
  • to acknowledge the point of views of actual (ethical) hackers;
  • to build upon the newly based informal framework in order to create inclusive CVD national policies, with input from private sector experts within a specified legal framework;
  • to set the working format for the elaboration of the above referred legal concepts, the frameworks, as well as related or necessary policy documents for implementation.

Furthermore start developing a best practices document or framework document for coordinated vulnerability disclosure and deliberate on next steps.
